According to Michael, the most challenging part of buying or selling in this ever-changing market is getting sellers to be realistic about the value of their properties. Due to the local market’s deflation, most properties have dropped as much as 50% in price. However, Michael tells us that the areas with high rated schools have held their value pretty well. The homes in the areas with lower rated schools have taken a larger hit in value.
Michael suggests that first-time homebuyers should get prequalified with a lender and then start looking for homes to purchase within that price range. The most rewarding aspect of being a real estate agent is seeing someone succeed in getting their dream home. Michael also enjoys seeing first-time homebuyers getting into the real estate market. Michael McGuire is a good listener and tries to use his client’s feedback to see through their eyes and find out what they want and like. This makes Michael a much more effective and efficient agent. As Michael says, “I genuinely take a personal interest in my clients.” He tells us that he has even spent some personal vacation time with some of his clients.

Most of Michael’s family lives nearby and he greatly enjoys the fantastic weather the area offers. As he says, “Where else can you go snow skiing on a Saturday and to the beach on Sunday?” Michael highly recommends seeing a live show at “The Mountain Winery” or “Villa Montalvo”. He also mentions that there are several farmer’s markets, Movies at multiple cinemas, and the beach at santa cruz is ½ hour away. San Francisco is 1 hour away. World class snow skiing/snow boarding is within a four hour drive. With a very diverse job base, great weather, and four mild seasons, there is no better place to be.
